We have upgraded the current 15-year-old cold water RAS system, holding ornamental fish, of a Dutch customer. We only adjusted the filtration part because the full polyester fish tanks are still in good condition. The energy consumption and labour had to be reduced for this contract.
We have been able to significantly reduce the energy consumption of the system by using low-head pumps combined with the lowest possible pipe resistance. In addition, we have provided a frequency controller for the main pump. Combined with a flowmeter this enables users to accurately control the flow.
By replacing the existing sedimentation filter with a drumfilter, the labour required, which mainly consisted of cleaning the sedimentation filters, has been significantly reduced. An additional advantage of replacing a sedimentation filter with a drumfilter is that the water quality is now much more stable.
